MOBILITY – down-dog ankle mobilization
MINDFULNESS – consider the human filter and amplifier
Today’s mobilization technique is a down-dog based ankle range of motion crank. This complements the three-legged down dog technique previously covered (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kFQV94Nkqyw), as it demands less of the individual but still provides a great opening of the ankle joint.
Spend a few minutes mindfully breathing, extending, and relaxing the ankle. You’ll be surprised at how your squat feels afterwards!
Today’s mindfulness exercise is to consider the difference between human filters and human amplifiers.
A negative filter is the classic Debby Downer– taking the positive and making it negative.
A positive filter spins the negative into the positive. Bringing the energy up when it’s down.
An amplifier takes what is already there and runs with it– if people are sad they get grief-stricken, if folks are happy they get ecstatic.
Few people are always in one of the above categories. We tend to shift around as we change environments, company, and navigate life.
It’s important to realize the effect you have on others and how you contribute, either positively or negatively, to the collective psyche.
Can you think about the last time you took a negative and turned it into a positive? Or the last bad day you just couldn’t see the light side of things?
